Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

I have in many times prepared for a test as a Ghanaian with limited social amenities like electricity, computer, books and so on for facing high-stakes tests for accountability or promotional purposes. These practices has resulted in a considerable success but also with their pitfalls. In my test preparation activities in different subjects, I have always reviewed past instructional materials and notes given by the teacher. It is even difficult to do cross-referencing since students have no access to secondary sources.
Secondly, I focus on the present topics to understand every concept being treated. Finally, I try as much as possible to clarify concepts and areas of difficulties with the teacher. Having achieved that, I then engage in study groups to test my understanding with others. For quantitative subjects, my method has always been solving more questions. The results of practices in most part has proved successful, except when I lacked the necessary materials to do the revision. In conclusion, some of the practices has proved both useful and harmful effects of test preparation practices. If I get a second chance to correct test preparation practices appropriateness, I would call for basic social amenities. In addition, the results showed that external pressures on African students competing with First World countries could lead to negative outcome about test preparation. However, only hardworking students would be successful irrespective of the circumstances.
