Passing the PCCN exam can be a daunting challenge. You’ve spent years getting clinical hours to count towards your PCCN certification, and now it’s time to take the exam to become PCCN certified. But before you do that, there are a few tips that you should know to help you successfully get through the PCCN exam.
1.Know the AACN’s PCCN Exam
Sometimes studying just won’t cut it. Sure, you feel like you know the material but have you taken a look at the exam? Learning the details and the format of the PCCN Certification exam can give you a bit of an advantage.
Here’s what you need to know:
• There are 125 multiple-choice questions on the exam.
• You are given 2.5 hours to complete the exam.
2. PCCN Study Guide
Using a study guide is one of the best things you can do to prepare for an exam. Not only will using a study guide help you prepare for the PCCN exam, but you’ll also learn more about the details and content of the exam. You’ll also be able to brush up on key concepts that you’ll need to know for the exam.
3. Create a Study Schedule
As with any exam, it’s important to have good study habits. One of the best things that you can do is to create a study schedule because cramming for an exam is only going to overwhelm you and exhaust your mind. It’s usually best to sit down and create blocks of study time, about two to three hours a day.
4. Don’t Cram
Cramming is the last thing you want to do. Cramming the week or even the night before your exam will only cause you to become overwhelmed with all of the information that you need to know for the test. You’ll also have trouble remember things because you didn’t take enough time to properly study.
5. Read the Questions Carefully
Skimming through the questions on the exam is a very easy thing to do. But when you skim the questions, you might miss a few key details that you need in order to make a decision on an answer. Make sure that you carefully read each question fully before making a decision on an answer.
6. It’s Okay to Guess
Sometimes you’re not going to be able to come up with an answer to a question. When this happens, it’s okay to guess on the PCCN exam. Your final score is determined on how many questions you answer correctly. Incorrect and omitted answers are not penalized, so it’s okay to guess an answer.
7. PCCN Flashcards
Flashcards are great tools when preparing for an exam. They help you to remember details and concepts for a longer period of time without overwhelming yourself or feeling burnt out with studying.
8. Don’t Linger
If you come across a question that you find difficult to answer, skip it. Skipping a difficult question and returning it to it later can give your mind a break while it’s still thinking about the answer in the background. Just be sure to go back and answer that question before time is up.
9. Check Your Answers
If you have time, you should go back and check your answers to make sure that you didn’t accidentally choose the wrong answer, because sometimes this happens! If you have left a question unanswered, this would also be a good time to go back and answer those that you left blank.
10. PCCN Practice Test
Practice tests can show you a few things that you need to know. Taking a practice test gives you more of an idea as to the format and details that are expected on the actual exam. Not only that but taking a practice test gives you a chance to learn more about which areas of the exam you need more work on. When you’re ready to take a practice test, be sure to take advantage of our PCCN Practice Test.
