The HESI A2 test will gauge students’ academic readiness. The test will measure three different academic abilities; English Language, Math, and Science; however, these are not the only sections on the HESI Entrance Exam. There is also a Learner Profile portion which the test-makers use to improve the test in the future; in addition to, providing the nursing program information about the test taker’s personality.
The HESI A2 test will include not only scored questions but also some pilot questions. Pilot questions are questions designed to improve the HESI Entrance Exam.
HESI A2 Anatomy & Physiology Review Course
The HESI A2 Anatomy and Physiology section is one of the main sections of the exam. There are 30 questions in the Anatomy and Physiology section and it is timed for 25 minutes. You will be tested on general terminology and anatomical structures and systems of the human body.

HESI A2 Biology Review Course
The Biology section of the HESI A2 is timed for 25 minutes and includes 25 questions. The questions in the section covers biology basis, water, biological molecules, metabolism, cells, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis.
HESI A2 Chemistry Review Course
The HESI A2 Chemistry section includes 25 questions that are timed for 25 minutes. The Chemistry section contains test items that cover matter, chemical equations and reactions, the periodic table, atomic structure, nuclear chemistry, chemical bonding, and more.

HESI A2 English Review Course
You’ll need to know reading and English skills in order to pass the HESI A2 exam. The English section of the exam includes 3 sections: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and General Knowledge, and Grammar.
The Reading Comprehension section contains 47 items. These items include reading scenarios to measure reading comprehension, identifying main ideas, finding the meaning of words in context, passage comprehension, making logical inferences, and more.
The Vocabulary and General Knowledge section of the HESI A2 consist of 50 questions. The questions that you will be tested on contains vocabulary terms that are commonly used in both general English speaking and in the health care fields.
The Grammar section also consists of 50 questions. These questions include basic grammar, including parts of speech, important terms and their uses in grammar, commonly occurring grammatical errors and more.
HESI A2 Math Review Course
The HESI A2 Math section consists of 50 questions that are timed for 50 minutes. The Math section focuses on math skills that are needed for the health care field including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, household measures, general math facts and more.
