Growing up, I was always challenged to learn and was encouraged by my teachers. When I got to nursing school it was no different. My teachers and clinical instructors were great teachers and great nurses. I wanted to be just like them. After I became a nurse, I realized I could impact many more people by inspiring future nurses to provide exceptional care. I want to teach nursing students both the art and the science of great nursing care. Therefore, I chose to enroll in a Masters of Nursing Education degree program. This way, I can learn evidence based teaching and learning strategies, deeper nursing philosophy, and conduct research. Nursing is constantly evolving and I want to be on the forefront of that change. Beyond that, nursing instructors are desperately needed to adequately prepare future nurses to fill the gaps from a large group of baby boomer nurses who will be retiring. I am not only increasing my professional knowledge for myself, but for the good of future nurses and patients.
