1- Growing up as a female latino with an economic disadvantage has always made me grateful for every single opportunity I’ve had to succeed. Today, I plan to succeed as an Aerospace Engineer. The story begins the day I came from Mexico, January 2012, It was a chilly day and I was on the verge of tears. None of it made sense. Why did my mother want me to be somewhere I didn’t want to? What was so great about The United States? My mother is a wise woman. It is now October 1st 2018 and I have an answer to every single question I had back on 2012. My answers started to emerge the day I had the most questions. It begun the first day at Imperial Valley College, fall 2017, where my classes were mostly General Education Courses and I was bound for an easy semester. I coursed through Psychology, Chemistry, History and my favorite, Calculus I. Winter came and I took advantage of time and enrolled in a Political Science coursed which was easily completed considering the time spam and the amount of information handed to you in a single meeting. Now comes Fall. I used to love Fall. Fall is the time where the leaves start to fall, and everything turns cold; and so did my semester, everything started to collapse or fall into pieces. My classes included Physics 1, Advanced Composition, Chemistry 200, and my favorite Calculus 2. Did I say favorite? I meant my least favorite. I used to be in love with the idea of understanding mathematics and being able to fully understand the subject and its applications. This class was different. I struggled through every class. To make my story shorter, I failed, my life was over. I did not get a grade of C or higher making me repeat the course once again. But during the break, thinking about my future, I thought to myself, “I am a complete success”. Every expert was once a beginner, and today I am an expert.
