Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
On these websites, I first input the information that I need to know. Occasionally I can find existing study sets on these sites that pertain to my material, but I usually find it more helpful to make my own sets to become familiar with the material. Then, the sites give me a variety of online flashcards and games, which work very well for me as a visual learner. Being able to see the terms, definitions, questions, and answers in different sequences helps me retain the information, while also putting me in the right mindset for a test. The repetition of review games is also helpful, as it gives me the same question over and over mixed in with other questions until I am completely comfortable with the topic. Some of the games allow for the option of having a timer, which tests how quickly I can recall information, just like I would need to do during the actual tests. The instant gratification of passing “levels” in these games motivates me to continue studying even when I would normally have grown tired of the material over time through alternate methods. Using online resources has made studying so much more enjoyable for me, and I would highly encourage students today to take advantage of them.
