<\/span>Exam Outline<\/h2>\nThe Connecticut Foundations of Reading exam contains 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-response questions, and you will be given a time limit of 4 hours.<\/p>\n
The exam is split into four subareas.<\/p>\n
<\/span>I. Foundations of Reading Development (35%)<\/h3>\nThe questions in this subarea assess your knowledge and skills pertaining to the following:<\/p>\n

- Promoting comprehension and analysis of informational texts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
<\/span>III. Reading Assessment and Instruction (18%)<\/h3>\nThe questions in this subarea assess your knowledge and skills pertaining to the following:<\/p>\n

<\/span>IV. Integration of Knowledge and Understanding (20%)<\/h3>\nThis subarea contains the two open-response questions, which are designed to assess your knowledge and skills pertaining to the following:<\/p>\n
\n- The development of foundational reading skills<\/li>\n
- The development of reading comprehension<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Once your account has been created, log in and select the Foundations of Reading (890) exam. From there, you can register for the exam, pay the $139 testing fee, and schedule your testing appointment.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Test Day<\/h2>\n<\/span>In-person Testing<\/h3>\nYou should arrive about 30 minutes early to the testing center on test day to allow time for the check-in process. After you arrive, you will be asked to sign in and provide two valid forms of government-issued ID.<\/p>\n
You will then be asked to place all personal items in a locker outside the testing room, or you may be asked to leave them in your car.<\/p>\n
Once the test begins, you will be allowed to take breaks. However, the timer will not be stopped during your break, so use your break time carefully.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Remote Testing<\/h3>\nTo take the exam remotely, you must use a laptop or desktop computer that does not have touchscreen capabilities (tablets and smartphones are not allowed). You will also need a functioning webcam, speakers, and a microphone.<\/p>\n
When you check in to take the exam, the remote proctor will ask you to show proof of identification and to move your webcam around the room so that your testing area can be observed. Once the proctor has approved your testing area, they will walk you through the testing process and begin your exam.<\/p>\n
<\/span>How the Exam is Scored<\/h2>\nYour Connecticut Foundations of Reading score is determined by taking your raw score (the number of questions you answered correctly) and converting it to a scaled score from 100 to 300. To pass, you will need to get a minimum scaled score of 240.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t
