The unscored questions are used by the test administrators to evaluate questions for future versions of the exam.<\/p>\n<p>The CCTN exam is split into six major content areas:<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"1_Pretransplantation_Care_(13_scored_questions)\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>1. Pre-transplantation Care (13 scored questions)<\/h3>\n<p>The questions in this area are designed to assess your knowledge and skills in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluating end-stage organ failure<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring a patient awaiting transplantation<\/li>\n<li>Providing education to a patient awaiting transplantation<\/li>\n<li>Providing support for psychosocial issues<\/li>\n<li>Prepare pretransplant patient for surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span id=\"2_Care_Immediately_Posttransplantation_(39_scored_questions)\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>2. Care Immediately Post-transplantation (39 scored questions)<\/h3>\n<p>The questions in this area are designed to assess your knowledge and skills in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluating objective criteria<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring laboratory results<\/li>\n<li>Assessing for complications, intervening, or evaluating response to intervention<\/li>\n<li>Caring for the living donor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span id=\"3_Transplantation_Management_(39_scored_questions)\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>3. Education and Discharge (23 scored questions)<\/h3>\n<p>The questions in this area are designed to assess your knowledge and skills in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discharging a recipient safely<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring the recipient understands the long-term care plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span id=\"6_Professional_Responsibilities_(10_scored_questions)\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>6. Your application must include the non-refundable $150 application fee.<\/p>\n<p>Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email along with a nine-digit number. You will need this number to schedule your exam appointment with PSI. At this time, you will need to pay the exam fee of $350.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"pt-page\"><span id=\"Test_Day\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>Test Day<\/h2>\n<p>On exam day, you should arrive 15-30 minutes early and be prepared to show a valid form of ID.<\/p>\n<p>Before you take the exam, you will be asked to leave your cell phone, accessories, wallet, keys, and other personal items outside of the testing room. You will then be given a dry erase board or scratch paper and a pencil to take notes.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"pt-page\"><span id=\"How_the_Exam_is_Scored\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>How the Exam is Scored<\/h2>\n<p>Your final CCTN score is determined using a scaled scoring method. This method takes the number of questions you answered correctly, which is called your raw score, and converts it to a numerical scaled score. Your score will be reported as pass\/fail on your score report, which you should receive before leaving the testing center.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"pt-page\"><span id=\"Retaking_the_Exam\" class=\"m-toc-anchor\"><\/span>Retaking the Exam<\/h2>\n<p>If you do not pass the exam, you may retake it after waiting a minimum of 90 days.
