The Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT), administered by Industrial\/Organizational Solutions (IOS), Inc., is used to test the basic skills and knowledge needed to enroll in Florida Commission-certified training centers, and for becoming an employee in Florida as a correctional or sworn law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n

<\/span>CJBAT Exam Outline<\/h2>\n

The CJBAT exam contains 97 questions and has a time limit of 1.5 hours.<\/p>\n

The questions on the exam are based on six minimum competencies that are required for a successful career as a law enforcement officer and correctional officer in the state of Florida. The competencies are as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. Written Comprehension<\/li>\n
  2. Written Expression<\/li>\n
  3. Memorization<\/li>\n
  4. Deductive Reasoning<\/li>\n
  5. Inductive Reasoning<\/li>\n
  6. Personal Characteristics\/Behavioral Attributes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The exam is split into three sections.<\/p>\n

    <\/span>Section I (47 questions)<\/h3>\n

    This section tests job-related behavioral attributes to test how successful you could be as a correctional or law enforcement officer. You will be given a time limit of 20 minutes for this section.<\/p>\n

    <\/span>Section II (10 questions)<\/h3>\n

    This section tests your ability to memorize various pieces of information. For each question, you will be presented with one or more images and then questioned on what you can remember from those images. You will be given 1 minute to review each image or set of images, and you will have 1.5 minutes to answer each question. The total time limit for this section is 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

    <\/span>Section III (40 questions)<\/h3>\n

    This section tests your written comprehension, written expression, inductive reasoning, and deductive reasoning skills. You will be given a time limit of 1 hour for this section.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t

    <\/span>Registration<\/h2>\n

    To register for the exam, you must first create a Pearson VUE account on their website. This will allow you to register, pay the $39 examination fee, and schedule your exam appointment. The test is available at Pearson testing centers across the state of Florida.<\/p>\n
