Division Word Problems<\/h1>\n

When working on a word problem, there are a few words that can cue you in on the fact that you will be dividing. Some of these words and phrases include: quotient, per, out of, and ratio. For example, if the question says, “If the quotient of a number and 10 is 3\/5, what is the number?” you will have to divide an unknown number by 10 to get the quotient 3\/5. Note that the order of numbers is very important; this problem is not ’10 divided by a number’.<\/p>\n
