<\/span>What’s on an OSAT Test?<\/h2>\n
The majority of OSAT tests contain 80 selected-response questions and a single constructed-response question, and every test is timed at 4 hours (online versions of the tests may have a shorter time limit). You will also be given an additional 15-minute tutorial and preparation period before the exam begins.<\/p>\n
<\/span>OSAT Registration<\/h2>\n
To register for an OSAT test, you must first create an online NES account. Once your account has been created, you will be able to use it to register for your test and pay the applicable testing fees.<\/p>\n
The fee for each exam is $118. The only exceptions are the two Elementary Education subtests, which cost $65 each.<\/p>\n
<\/span>OSAT Scores<\/h2>\n
Your final OSAT score is calculated using a scaled scoring system. This system takes the number of questions you answered correctly (your raw score) and converts it to a numerical scaled score between 100 and 300. The minimum scaled score needed to pass an OSAT test is 240.<\/p>\n
You will receive your official score report within four weeks after testing.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Retaking an OSAT Test<\/h2>\n
If you do not pass your test on the first attempt, you may retake the test after a 30- or 60-day waiting period. You will need to complete the full registration and payment processes for each attempt.
