# Praxis II Middle School Content Knowledge Test

If you aspire to become a middle school teacher, in many states it’s a requirement that you achieve a passing score on the Praxis II Middle School Content Knowledge exam, one of the most common teacher certification tests currently in use. As a content knowledge exam, the focus of this test leans much more toward knowledge of the various subjects than pedagogical techniques. There are four broad topics covered on the exam, which constitute the foundations of a general education: science, math, history/social studies, and literature and language. There are 120 questions on the exam; all of them are multiple-choice.

Some questions may be experimental, being used to help develop future tests. If so, the answers to those questions won’t count toward your score. (However, you will have no way of knowing if a question is experimental.) There is no official passing score on the exam, as each state or school district sets its own standards, but it should go without saying that a poor score will disqualify you. Should you fail, you will have to wait several weeks before you can retake the test. It’s best to be fully prepared on your first attempt of the Praxis II Middle School Content Knowledge test, and using the free videos here at Mometrix Academy is a great way to make sure you’re ready to tackle this difficult exam.
