ILTS Early Childhood Special Education Practice Test
If you’re looking to teach elementary school students at the especial education level in Illinois, you need to meet strict state standards. These standards ensure that you have the necessary skills, knowledge and personality to teach special education students. You must become certified by passing the ILTS Early Childhood Special Education Exam.
There are two versions of the ILTS Early Childhood Special Education Test. The current version is available until September 3, with a new version introduced on September 4. The current version has 125 multiple-choice questions that must be completed in three hours and 45 minutes. The new version will have 100 multiple choice questions that must be completed in three hours and 15 minutes. Both have a passing score of 240.
There are three subareas: language and literacy development, learning across the curriculum, and diversity and professionalism in the early childhood program. You will be tested on various topics, including oral language development in young children, foundations of literacy developments, strategies to promote literacy, word identification, vocabulary development, development of reading comprehension skills, writing processes, developing writing competence, mathematical skills and concepts, scientific concepts and processes, social sciences skills and processes, role of movement and physical activity, and health and fitness activities. You will also see questions about fine arts as media for communication, expression through the arts, human development, factors that affect growth and learning, early childhood curriculum, assessment process, maintaining a safe and productive learning environment, and importance of communication and collaboration.
