What is an Identity in Algebra?
This video give multiple examples of additive and multiplicative identities. The additive identity is zero because it can be added to any number without changing its value. For instance, 2+0=2. The multiplicative identity is 1 because it can be multiplied by any number without changing its value. For instance, 8×1=8.
