GACE Special Education Reading, English Language Arts, and Social Studies Practice Test

If you’re an aspiring special education teacher looking to teach in Georgia, you’ll need to prove your knowledge and proficiency to the state before entering a classroom. You’ll need to take an exam or two based on the subjects you plan to teach. If you plan to teach various subjects to students at the preschool through 8th grade levels, be prepared to take the GACE Special Education Reading, English Language Arts, and Social Studies exam.

The GACE Special Education Reading, English Language Arts, and Social Studies exam as 70 questions that must be completed within two hours. There are two subareas: reading and English language arts, and social studies. Both subareas are weighted equally, at 50%. You will be tested on various topics, including reading and writing processes and approaches, developing literacy skills, instructional approaches, use of appropriate print and media resources, student assessment, knowledge of diversity, supportive environments and use of technology. For the science portion, expect to see questions pertaining to economics, government (state and national), civics, personal finance, geography, history of Georgia and the United States, technological developments and world history.
