Circuit training combines cardiovascular and resistance training. Circuit training combines resistance activities with cardiovascular activities and helps build strength as well as endurance. The drawbacks to this type of training are similar to anything else; if continued for too long, clients will reach a plateau in their performance. Circuit training could be disadvantageous for a client if the primary goal is to increase his/her endurance. When doing these types of activities, the client may have to stop the exercise sooner than if a continuous mode of activity was used because the intensity is more difficult.
